A Night at the Opera
A night at the opera is supposed to be enjoyable, but Grace is checking her watch every five minutes. “The kids will be okay,” her friend assures her. Grace sighs and smiles politely, but can’t help but check her watch one more time. Ava doesn’t have any children yet. She doesn’t understand that they are part of her, that they are her life. Now that she’s here she wonders what’s gotten into her to think she could enjoy Puccini when her children were feeling a bit under the weather. She thinks she may have forgotten to tell the babysitter that Steven has an aversion to peanut butter and that Jade is afraid of the dark. Grace goes outside the theater and dials the number on her cell phone. Yes, she will be home an hour earlier. As she’s talking to the babysitter, she catches a glimpse of her pendant and starts fiddling with it. It feels nice and substantial. After she hangs up, she admires it again. She loves the intricate design of the flowers and smiles as she sees the beautiful sapphire and ruby.. her children. Grace knows she’s doing the right thing. Your Life, Your Love, Your Legacy.
