After a busy morning at work, Diane takes a coffee break in the deserted meeting room. As she sips her cappuccino, she looks down at the white gold ring she’s wearing. Diane puts her coffee cup down and lazily traces the delicate flowers. As she enjoys the feel of cool metal on her skin, she lets her mind wander from demanding clients to the brilliant sapphire in the middle. “My son,” she thinks while taking another sip of her coffee. She’s wearing a huge grin for the first time today. Lucas is starting fifth grade next year. He loves airplanes. “Maybe we’ll take him on a plane to Phoenix to visit his grandparents,” she muses. Diane smiles as she stands up and picks up her briefcase. She feels refreshed for the rest of her day.
